Jake Rekrut is a New York-based oil painter born in London, England. His work pulls from Northern Renaissance iconography to imagine a psychological, painted present where chance, queerness, and personal narrative collide. Through controlled, intimate paintings on aluminum panels, Rekrut explores uncertainty as it manifests in the act of making and in the images he creates, questioning what it means to be a painter today.
